Joseph C. Sanderson

Of New Hope, passed away on Dec. 31, 2020 at the age of 71.

Joseph Clarence Sanderson was born Oct. 17, 1949 in Aberdeen, South Dakota to Bernadette (Barondeau) and Delbert Sanderson. Joe was the oldest of seven sons. He was baptized in Groton, SD and confirmed at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Madison, MN. Joe graduated from Madison High School in 1968 and attended Vocational School in Canby, MN.

Joe was married to Linda Bornhorst on October 19, 1974 in Madison, MN. From this union, their son Joshua was born. Joe worked over 40 years at Caterpillar Paving Products in Osseo, MN.

Joe was an avid fisherman and hunter. Fall was his favorite time of year and he loved hunting in “God’s Country”-western Minnesota as well as in western South Dakota. He could make a stranger a friend simply by talking hunting and fishing. Joe loved listening to 50’s music and was a wonderful storyteller.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; son, Josh (Eva); granddaughter, Faye. Faye was the apple of Joe’s eye… Joe and Faye had a special song “Cara Mia” that they always danced to when saying goodbye. Joe loved the precious times he spent with his family.

In addition, Joe is survived by brothers, Chuck (Fairbanks, Alaska), Gary (Becky), Delbert (Laurie), Michael (Cindy) and Robert of Ruthven and Spencer, Iowa, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jeff. Joe will be remembered for his generosity and the love of his family.

He will be missed by many.
