James R. Wuollet

James R. Wuollet, age 84, of Plymouth, Minnesota, passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at home surrounded by his family.

Jim was born in Austin, Minnesota, on December 12, 1936, to the late Reino and Agnes (Anderson) Wuollet.  Jim attended school in St. Paul and Minneapolis. He graduated from North High School in 1955.

Jim married Darlene J. Abbey on July 21, 1957. They have lived in Minneapolis, Annandale, Greenfield and Plymouth, Minnesota.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Darlene. He is also survived by sons, Mark (Päivi); David (Barbara); and daughter Lisa (Kevin) Johnson. Also surviving are 33 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren; a sister Miriam (Robert decd.) and a brother Daniel (Marilee) Wuollet; sisters-in-law Betty (Reino H Jr., decd.); Jeanette (Benjamin, decd.) Wuollet; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a multitude of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and brothers-in-law Margaret (Douglas) Bratt; Ellen (Richard) Randall; and two brothers Reino H. Jr. and Benjamin.

Jim started his career working for his father Reino H. Wuollet Sr. in the Wuollet Bakery. In the early 1970’s Jim and his brother Ben purchased the bakery from their father. Under their leadership the bakery business expanded and grew to multiple locations and became a landmark in the greater Minneapolis St. Paul region.

Jim and Darlene had a warm and welcoming home and often entertained family, friends, and neighbors. Jim, of course, was famous as a baker and often baked something at home to then invite guests over. He was always bringing someone home after church to enjoy one of Darlene’s Sunday dinners. Jim was an inspired artist and painted watercolors and oils. Many of his works can be found in the homes of friends and family and have been shown in local galleries.
