Lee Delwin Mills

Lee was born on October 15, 1922 in Appleton, Minnesota. He later resided in Dassel, Osseo, and Brooklyn Center.

He was preceded in death by parents, Josephine (Huizinga) and Floyd Mills, his brother, Floyd Mills, Jr. and his sister, Lorna Hayden, and wives, Elaine (Schaust) LaClair and Mary Labarre Mills. And since he lived to be 100, by almost all his friends!

He worked for the Great Northern Railroad in South Shore, South Dakota, Appleton, MN, Dassel, and Osseo, first as a telegrapher and then as a depot agent. He served in WWII as a telegrapher and radio operator, riding in the commander’s car. He loved to dance, ice fish, camp, canoe, and hunt especially with his sons. The family spent many of their weekends and vacations camping in state parks.

Lee and Elaine raised three sons, Robert (Marlene), John Bradley “Brad” (Rita), Richard (Julie) and daughter, JoAnn (Dave) Knutson, all still living. He has eight grandchildren, Darin Mills, Chris Creagh, Anne Hanson, Mike, Matt and Greg Mills, Travis and Ryan Knutson. He has 12 great-grandchildren, Elsa, Lewis, Claire, Mathew, Andrew, Eren, Zach, Evan, Maddie, A. J., Alex and Henry.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, May 13 at Gearty-Delmore Robbinsdale Chapel, 3888 W. Broadway, with lunch following.  Visitation will be one hour prior.
