Zandra Jean Cote (Hyovalti) was born to dairy farmers William and Violet Hyovalti of Aitkin, MN in 1945. She later moved to Minneapolis, where she worked for Munsingwear, General Office Products, and Shamrock Industries.  It was at Shamrock that she met David Cote, who she married in 1975.
