Mass of Christian Burial for William Strommen
William Ray Strommen was born on August 3, 1942.
He grew up in Willmar, MN and came to Minneapolis to attend Dunwoody Institute of Technology after high school.
He married his high school sweetheart, Carol Jager and had celebrated 62 years of marriage living in St Louis Park, Wayzata/Plymouth. Together, he and Carol raised five children and have enjoyed 5 grandchildren.
Jane Strommen, Jill Opland, Amy Freiberg, Mark Strommen (Amy Beth) and Jon Strommen (Sarah). Grandchildren Sophia & Emily Strommen, Anthony & Brandon Freiberg and Will Strommen.
When Bill had graduated from Dunwoody, he went into the machine tooling trade. In 1981, after 20 years of experience in the tooling and molding industry, he ventured out on his own and established Strommen Engineering Corporation. Bill built and operated his highly reputable custom tool & die company for 35 years, working with his wife and son, Mark. In 2016, Strommen Engineering was sold, and Bill and Carol began their transition into retirement.
Bill was a proud member of the board of directors for the Farmers State Bank of Hamel for the last 23 years. He greatly enjoyed this responsibility and all the members of the bank.
During his retirement, Bill enjoyed keeping active with various committees at Trillium Woods.
Bill was always known as an amazing handy man. He loved working on projects of his own and helping everyone else with theirs. He seemed to most enjoy the many projects he worked on with his children. With his endless talents and determination, he could design, build, maintain or fix anything.
Whatever Bill did, you could bet it was done with consideration, care and effort to be sure it was done well, and something to be proud of.
Bill enjoyed whatever time he could have with his children and grandchildren. He loved the outdoors and nature. On the rare occasions that Bill would set aside work, or a project and take time out for himself, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, car races, woodworking, golfing, shooting pool and playing cards.
Bill lived his life as a faithful, honorable, hardworking doer, provider, and protector, dedicated to his wife, family, business and friends. Throughout his life he was always generous with his time, talents and treasure. Bill could be described as the perfect example of the servant God wants us all to be.
Sadly, Bill passed away at home, on Saturday, February 8, 2025.
As a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, this very special and loved man will be greatly missed by many.
The family would like to extend special thanks and appreciation to Dr. Rachel Lerner and her team from the Health Partners Frauenshuh Cancer Center, who provided so much to the care of Bill.
To honor and remember this man, a visitation and funeral will be held
