Bill passed away peacefully on December 19, 2018 at 81 years of age. He dealt with his diagnosis of multiple myeloma over the past 20 months with the same strength, optimism, determination, courage, and honesty in which he led his life.
Bill will be missed by his loving wife of 58 years, Jean (Gigot) Kreykes; sons Mike (Anne) and Tom (Sarah); grandchildren Madeline (Michael) Crowley, Molly, Benjamin, and Celia; sisters - Arlene, Edna, Betty, extended family, and countless friends. Bill was preceded in death by his daughter Jennifer Kreykes Pohl, parents William and Grace; and siblings - Harold, Arnie, Matilda, and Bonnie.
Bill was born in Sanborn, Iowa. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration. Bill believed that it was important to make an impact on the people and organizations he was involved with. This was very evident by the leadership, passion, and vision he displayed in his professional life as a healthcare executive at HCMC, Vanderbilt University Hospital, Health Central, Health One, Rhode Island Hospital and Lifespan. In his retirement he served on the board of Trinity Health. Since then he also volunteered his time, energy and resources with the University of Minnesota Masters for Healthcare Administration Alumni Foundation and Trillium Woods Resident Council.
Bill enjoyed traveling the world with Jean, time with their beloved dog Snickers, golfing with Arizona and Cape Cod friends, creating beautiful woodturning masterpieces, toasting Cape Cod sunsets, spending time with family and friends, adoring his grandchildren and encouraging their education, playing cards, reading, and being involved with the Trillium Woods community,
We will all miss his love, laughter, generosity, competitive spirit, vision, passion, determination, and sense of adventure.
A celebration of Bill’s life will take place at a Memorial Mass on January 11, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Community, 155 County Rd 24, Wayzata, MN.
