Bill was born Aug. 18, 1938 to Lucille (Toots, Fiebiger) and William (Bill) Christensen in Faribault, MN. When Bill was 4 the family moved to Owatonna, MN.
At age 16 yrs. Bill joined the Navy and was stationed on the USS YORKTOWN where he spent 4 yrs. serving his country. After his discharge he returned home to Owatonna where he met and married Donna Wolter. They made their home in Plymouth, MN and had two sons.
Bill worked at Durkee-Atwood on Nicollet Island in Mpls., MN and later drove truck for Baldwin Co. of Mpls. After retirement he spent all his summers at their cabin on the Yellow River in Danbury, WI.
Bill was an avid tennis and hockey player. He grew up playing hockey outside at the Warsinski ice rink in Owatonna, playing almost every night!
Bill is survived by his two sons, Mike of Mpls., Mark (Sheli) of Sartell, MN; two grandchildren, Justin Christensen of Mpls. and Ashley Christensen of Orlando, FL; three sisters, Sandra (Willie) Schlobohm of Owatonna, Liz Carlson of Rice Lk. WI. and Sharon (Howie) Naylor of Chanhassen, MN; brother-in-law, Larry Parnell of Golden Valley, MN; sister-in-law, Nancy Wolter of Hopkins, MN; nieces and nephews and many friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 58 yrs., Donna (12-12-17); parents Bill & Lucille Christensen; father and mother-in-law, Don and Vendla Wolter; brother-in-law, Skip Carlson; sister-in-law, Marg Parnell; nephews Randy and Derrick Schlobohm.
A very special thank you to all the staff at The Good Samaritan of Inver Grove Heights, MN, for all the great care they gave Bill. Their kindness and caring was not only shown to the residents, but also to all their families.
Bill will be laid to rest in the Spring, with his wife, Donna, at a private burial at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Faribault, MN.
