William J. Cavanagh

William J. Cavanagh, age 80 of Medina, passed away after a courageous and hard fought battle with Glioblastoma brain cancer at his home on September 1, 2018.

Bill is survived by his wife of 57 years, Phyllis (Featherstone) Cavanagh, son John of Winter Park, CO; daughters, Mary of Minneapolis, Jeanne of San Diego, and Molly (Kary) Oeffling of Delano; grandchildren Anne, Elisabeth and Matt Cavanagh, Ben and Nicolas Cavanagh-Thompson, Megan, Charlie and Austin Oeffling. He also leaves behind his sister, Mary Jo Blonigan.

Bill graduated from Robbinsdale HS in 1956 and earned a Business degree from St. John's University in 1960. His career spanned over 30 years in medical sales, including Medtronic and Summit Medical. He enjoyed retirement traveling the world and was an avid Minnesota football fan, especially St. John's and Edina HS teams. He loved WWII History, family gatherings and made many friends biking with the Plymouth Peddlers. He enjoyed family boat rides on Lake Vermilion, socializing with friends and visiting Hawaii each winter. Trips to Ireland gave him a unique opportunity to enjoy the pubs, music and beauty of his 100% Irish heritage.

Bill made a positive impact on many lives and will be remembered as a generous happy-go-lucky guy with an incredible sense of humor who made friends easily and valued lifetime friendships. In honor of Bill, enjoy a good laugh, a cold libation, and a sunset.
