William (Bill) J. Scholl

of Delano, Minnesota passed away on March 20, 2025. Bill was born on June 12, 1937, to Othmar and Lillian Scholl in Oak Park, Illinois, and grew up in Wilmette, Illinois. He attended John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. After college, he served in the United States Army for two years active duty and an additional six years in the Army Reserve. Bill met his wife Gail in Wilmette and they embarked on what would become a 65-year marriage and a family of seven children.

Bill worked in management at International Harvester Company in Chicago and lived in Elmhurst, Illinois, where Bill and Gail raised their family. In the early 1970s Bill took a position with White Farm Equipment Company and the family moved to Deephaven, Minnesota. Bill had a keen interest in history and in transportation (especially fast cars and airplanes) and enjoyed camping, sailing, reading, and golf. In retirement, Bill enjoyed traveling to visit his children and extended family across the country, all seasons of the North Shore of Lake Superior, and attending air shows.

Bill is survived by his wife Gail, and children Mary Elizabeth “Betsy” Scholl, Martha Scholl (Jud Harvey), Joanne Scholl VanCott (Tom), Andrew Scholl, Jean Knacke (Kevin), Julia Scholl, and Peter Scholl (Laural); and grandchildren Madeline, Andrew, Caroline, Katherine, Owen, and Will.
