William Beaudry of Shorewood, age 93, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2024 after a short illness.
He was born to Euclide and Gertrude Beaudry, grew up in Detroit, Michigan, and attended St. Matthew Elementary and De La Salle Collegiate High School, before attending Michigan State University. He married Phyllis Sperry in 1958 and they enjoyed the last 65 years together.
Bill worked in the advertising department for J.L. Hudson's in Detroit from 1956 to 1984, when he was transferred to Minneapolis. He continued working for Dayton Hudson until his retirement in 1996. He spent many years collecting wood printer's type, assembling them into collages, and selling them at art shows around the Midwest. He also liked building birdhouses, playing poker and cribbage, and watching Michigan State basketball -- not necessarily in that order. His wry sense of humor was distinct; as a former co-worker said "He was certainly a curmudgeon but when he laughed it came from his toes."
Bill is survived by his wife Phyllis, his sons Paul (Lisa), Peter, and Jay (Kelly), daughter Jennifer Hobson (David), grandchildren Sydney Beaudry, Colman Hobson and Cyprian Hobson, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Richard and James.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 21, 2024 from 4-7 p.m. at Gearty-Delmore Funeral Chapel in St. Louis Park. Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Church in St. Louis Park. Rosary service to start at 10:30 a.m. at church.
Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery in New Hope. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
