Walter Paul Swierk

Walter Paul Swierk passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on December 10th, 2019 after a long journey with congestive heart failure and cancer. Dad was a devoted and loving husband for 40-years to the love of his life, Pamela, who he always put first.

Dad was an immensely proud father who fiercely loved his four children and their spouses, Christine (Gregory) DiBella, Matthew (Yun) Swierk, Justin (Mallory) Swierk, and Jarrod Swierk. Above all, dad's greatest joy was being Papa to his four grandchildren, Hannah, Yuri, Yuna, and Nikolai.

As the patriarch of “The Swierk Boys” dad embodied the Swierk brand of humor and cherished his relationships dearly with his three brothers and their wives, Robert (Elizabeth) Swierk,  Stephen (Debra) Swierk, and the late David (Laurie) Swierk. As if these accomplishments weren't enough, dad was prideful in his role as godfather to Lori Greene, Kacie Bergeron, and Evan Reilly.

He proudly served in the United States Army as a combat medic during the Vietnam War. Dad earned his Physician Assistant masters degree from Northeastern University after service.

Dad always treated his friends as family. He was both loved and feared in the best way possible by his children’s friends. He was known as “Uncle Bubba” to many, loved the Christmas season and Santa Claus, and was an avid Patriots fan (Go Pats!).

Dad was extremely blessed to have befriended Greg Gibson, who returned the friendship to Dad in the most honorable way possible through his care and commitment to him throughout these last two years.

He will be joining his beloved parents, Florence and Walter Swierk, his brother, David Swierk, and his sister-in-law, Patricia Swierk, in eternal peace. Laughter and quick wit were necessities in his life and to honor him, we ask you to be generous, dress your best, and enjoy a good meal around the table together.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Wounded Warriors.

His wake will be from 4:00 - 8:00 pm on Monday, December 16th at Gearty-Delmore Plymouth Chapel, 15800 37th Avenue North, Plymouth, MN.

Walter’s Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 17th at the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, 155 County Road 24, Medina, MN. There will be a 1-hour visitation prior to mass.
