Walter "Wally" Hyser

Wally was born January 29, 1929, in Minneapolis, the 5th of 8 children of Adelaide and Raymond Hyser.  His life centered on family with the hallmarks of patience and love.  He was always happiest when the whole family was together.

Wally proudly served in the US Army with the 216th Chemical Service Company during the Korean War and he also served 30 years as a Minneapolis firefighter.  His cooking skills and homemade dinners were appreciated by those he worked with and many a guest at his table.  Throughout his adult life, one of his hobbies was sourcing food to feed the poor, and his family will remember how without fanfare, he made a difference in the lives of those who needed help.

He is survived and loved by his wife, Kathleen, children Anne Marie Wray, Paul (Beth), Mary Claire (Frank) Wohletz, and Nick (Catherine), eight grandchildren, sister Grace, sisters-in-law Mary Jane, Marcy, and Betty, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Jim, Chuck, Dick, Tom, Ray, and Mary Helen Ring, brother-in-law Ed Ring, and sister-in law Florence Hyser.

In the various ailments of being human, he never uttered a word of complaint, but accepted all with dignity and patience, always grateful for any help offered. He left this world for heaven on October 13, 2017, holding hands with Kathleen.  To the end, he taught us how to love by his quiet model of living.

Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Tuesday, October 17 at the Church of St. Austin, 4050 Upton Ave N., Mpls.

Visitation Monday 5-8 PM with 7 PM rosary at Gearty-Delmore Robbinsdale Chapel, 3888 W. Broadway and Tuesday at church one hour before Mass.

Memorials preferred to Soaring Eagle for Cheyenne elders in Billings, MT (soaringeagle.org) and Abria Pregnancy Resources (abria.org).

Rosary Monday 7 PM at Gearty-Delmore. Visitation also Tuesday 10 AM at Church.
