Arnold, Veva Ann (McGuire)

 Age 101, longtime resident of Golden Valley, MN, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 20,2025. Veva was proceeded in death by her parents, 

Hugh and Mamie McGuire and five siblings; Phillip, John, William, Molly and Boniface, as well as her husband of 44 years, Heinz Arnold.

She is survived by her children; Lyn (Mike) Berglund, Mark (Deb) Arnold, Carla (Mark) Haney; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. 

 Veva was born in the town of Dante, South Dakota on October 17,1923. She, like all five of her siblings attended college, graduating from the University of South Dakota in 1944. While at USD, she was an active member of the Alpha Phi sorority where she acquired many life long friends. During World War II she worked part time at a manufacturing Plant which supplied parts for airplanes used in the war effort. She was very proud of her time spent as a ‘Rosey the Riveter”.

In 1946 she moved to Minneapolis where she met and married her husband, Heinz. She was a devoted wife, mother, church volunteer at her parish, St. Margaret Mary. She was a fifteen year employee of the Courage Center, working in the accounting department. In her free time she enjoyed gardening, playing bridge and ballroom dancing with Heinz. After retirement she and Heinz spent many happy winters in Marco Island, Fl. Veva was friendly, caring and always generous with her time to help others.

 A private family Mass and burial was held on Monday, February 24th. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 21, 2025 with details to be announced.
