Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Marguerite “Margie”; parents, Caroline and Theodore; three sisters, Ida, Katherine and Bernice; six brothers, Bill, Hank, Wally, Edmund, Edwin and Raymond.
Survived by sons, Joe (Janet) and John (Jeannie) Walentiny; daughters, Mary (Kevin) McAuliffe and Caroline (Jim) Brunelle; grandchildren, Amy (Chris), Denis (Erika), Maddy (Chris), Charlie, Tony, Caleb, Anna, Theo, Kindra and Kristin; great-grandchildren, Sophia, Drew, Jolie, June, Alexis, Aliyah, Adalyn and Alana; many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Vern grew up in Melrose, Minnesota and upon graduation, he proudly served his country as a Navy Corpsman in both WWII and the Korean War. He and Margie raised their family in Silver Bay. He worked for Reserve Mining Company for over 40 years as medical, X-Ray and lab technician.
Vern will be remembered for his love of traveling, woodwork and commitment to his family
