Valerio "Val" Balma passed away on 2/05/2022.

He was born on 12/10/1942 in the family home in Caluso, Italy as the allies were bombing Torino. Val Immigrated to the United States at age 10 where he would later serve in the US Navy for 2 years on the USS Intrepid. He married wife, Barbara, and spent 45 years together until her passing on 11/1/2014. Val worked for the Minneapolis Star Tribune for 30 years as a fleet driver, and after retirement drove school bus for the Robbinsdale School District. In his spare time, he was an active member and usher at The Church of St. Vincent de Paul in Osseo, lover of bowling, cards, cribbage, fishing, shooting at The Osseo Gun Club, and golfing with his late brother, Frank and good friend Jerome.

He will be missed by children, Christopher (Shane Miller); Shelly (Chris Elliott); grandchildren, Tom and Abby Fox; caregiver and niece, Mary (Mike); niece, Diane; nephews, Mark and Kenny (Lori); many other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by wife, Barbara; brothers, Mario and Frank; parents, Lina and Louis Balma; friend and caregiver, Julia; nephew, Michael and nieces, Cindy and Gina; sister-in-law, Becky Gebert.

Visitation 5 - 7 PM on Wednesday, Feb. 9 at Gearty-Delmore Robbinsdale Chapel, 3888 W Broadway with Rosary at 7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 AM Thursday, Feb. 10 at The Basilica of Saint Mary, 88 N 17th St. Mpls. with visitation one hour prior at church.

Interment Gethsemane Cemetery.
