Lewis “Todd” Bradbury died early morning on March 13th, 2021 at age 52. He was born in Richmond, Virginia on August 9th, 1968 to Linda Bradbury Fralin and Lewis Bradbury. In addition to his parents and step-mom, Teri, Todd is survived by his wife Carmen, son and daughter Zachary and Abigail, his brothers Kevin (Tiffany) of Roanoke, Virginia, and Mark Fralin of Roanoke, Virginia, sister Crystal (Josh) of Roanoke, Virginia, mother and father-in-law Jim and Linda Feterl of Mitchell, South Dakota, sister-in-law Micki McCurry (Greg) of Victoria, MN and brother-in-law Ryan Feterl of Sioux Falls, SD. He has several nieces and nephews who love him as “UT” the fun Uncle Todd.
After graduating high school from Glenvar High School in 1986, he served for four years in the United States Navy, serving two tours in the Persian Gulf War in the Middle East. After serving his country, he met his wife Carmen in Long Beach, California, and they married on August 11th, 1995. Todd had many great friends and great memories in Southern California, including pick-up basketball at the beach, Raider games at the LA Coliseum, long runs on the boardwalk, Sunday NFL and Karaoke, and favorite breakfast joints with Carmen. They left California to be closer to family in the Midwest, moving to Minneapolis. He graduated from North Hennepin Community College and began his long successful career as a cardiac sonographer in many roles through Allina Health where he built programs and more importantly, treasured friendships. He was a leader in the clinic and was beloved by his coworkers for his humor, dedication, and “always having their backs”.
His greatest pride came from his family. Todd fiercely loved Carmen and their kids. He cherished watching his daughter Abby’s many hours at dance competitions, often trying to simulate her taps moves or ‘spins’ in the kitchen. He most recently treasured their increasing shared interests in history, politics, and a good movie. He was the backyard and driveway dad helping Zach sharpen his basketball and baseball skills which quickly outgrew his own. This gave way to road trips to attend live sporting events together or texting the latest trades for the MN teams. He was immensely proud of both of them. He had a fond love of the outdoors and enjoyed hiking, backpacking, and traveling across the country navigating his family and friends to great heights and lows in the National Parks. He was always proud of being able to summit over eleven “14’ers” (14,000+ foot peaks) across the western mountain ranges in Colorado and California. He ran over 20 marathons and countless half marathons in Minnesota, Chicago, New York, Virginia, California and perhaps even one dressed as Elvis in Las Vegas. He enjoyed fall Sundays drinking craft beer with his wife and watching his favorite sports team, the now Las Vegas Raiders. Todd was always pushing himself to learn new things, as to never let himself grow idle. He prided himself in his ongoing knowledge about world history through documentaries and reading. He was always playing his music – whatever the favorite genre was at the time. He loved a wide variety of artists and genres and was quick to share his latest with anyone who would listen and appreciate the entire backstory of the band, album, or song.
Next time you raise your glass and think of the perfect one-liner, know that Todd is smiling with you.
