Thomas James Moon, age 76, of Rochester, went to be with the Lord on Wed., May 6, 2020, after a long battle with Parkinson’s.
Rochester MN was always his home and he was an active member of the community. He was one of the first classes to graduate from John Marshall, going onto Gustavus Adolphus College, then passing the Certified Public Accountant Exam. A young, 25 year old 2nd Lieutenant Thomas Moon landed “in country” Viet Nam February 5th, 1968, during the Tet Offensive.
He was a member of the Rochester Housing Redevelopment Authority, Rochester Methodist Hospital Foundation fund raising, Girls Scouts Brownie Leader, Hoover Elementary School PTA President, co-chaired the John Marshall 1991 graduation party, Optimist Club, Rotary Risers and a member of the original 1988 steering committee to organize the Rotary Holiday Classic basketball tournament.
Tom was a skilled insurance broker, finally retiring from COBrown. His faith was important to him and he was very active at the Zumbro Lutheran Church in Rochester through out his life.
Preceded in death by wife, Janet White-Moon; parents, James and Dorothy (Reese) Moon.
Thomas is survived by daughters, Kirsten (Christopher) Moon-Pryce, Allison (Jason) Maners and Elizabeth (Nicolas) Boeke; grandchildren, Hayden, Walter and Iris; siblings, Rebecca Moon, Darrell (Debbie) Moon and Gregory Moon; other relatives and friends.
Private family services were held, he will be interred at the Columbarium at Zumbro Lutheran Church of Rochester.
