Theresa D. Murphy

Theresa Delephine Murphy (Wallander), of Minneapolis, MN passed peacefully at North Memorial Hospital on December 13, 2024 at the age of 77. 

“Terry” was born in North Mpls. on Jan. 3, 1947. The youngest of nine children, she is survived by her three loving children: Tara Roberts (Patrick) and their three children, Spencer, Wally and Leo; Brendan Murphy (Jonette) and their son Mason; and Erin Seiler (Shawn) and their two children, Sammy and Daphne.

She is preceded in death by the love of her life Thomas Murphy, her parents, Charles and Viola Wallander, and her eight siblings, Charles Jr., Richard, Thomas, Ann, Mary, Elizabeth, John and Susan.

Terry married her soulmate, Tom, on February 27, 1970. Everything they did together was always focused on family. Terry was a beautiful young woman who was a runway model, worked as a waitress at Murray’s in downtown Minneapolis, served as a secretary at Onan’s and finally served as a secretary for the driver’s education program in the Minneapolis Public Schools where she retired in 2009. Terry’s favorite thing to do was spend time with her family. She loved her three children immensely, supporting them in every activity they ever did and absolutely loved to spoil her six grandchildren. Her favorite time of the year without question was the Christmas season. Although not officially listed as a job during her working years, Terry spent months picking out the “perfect gifts” for her loved ones. Terry loved to laugh and she was the most generous person you would ever meet in your life. Her kind heart and generosity will always live in the hearts of those who knew her.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church, located at Emerson and Dowling Ave. N. in Minneapolis on December 19th at 11:00 am. There will be an open casket for viewing an hour before Mass.

Burial will be held at Gethsemane Cemetery, located at 8151 N. 42nd Ave. in New Hope immediately following Mass. In the spirit of Christmas, everyone joining us is encouraged to wear festive Christmas attire or accessories.
