Theodore Joseph Smith

Theodore (Ted) Joseph Smith age 60 of Greenfield, passed away at his home April 14, 2023.

Ted was born January 15, 1963 in Minneapolis to Kathleen and Rodney Smith.  He graduated from Hopkins Lindbergh High School in 1981 and worked in the home building industry, recently as a job superintendent for John Kraemer & Sons.

Ted loved to hunt with his dog, Fuller.  He looked forward to the Fall when he could go to the fields of southwestern Minnesota as well as to South Dakota for pheasant hunting. On those days, Fuller never left his side.  Ted would come home with a few birds and immediately start making pheasant pot pie.   Fishing up north, golfing on the Monday night men’s league at Shamrock with his long time foursome during the summer and watching Gopher hockey were other favorite things Ted liked to do.  Ted loved music and whenever possible he and Kris would take off to see their favorite bands in person.  Most of all, Ted loved to hang with his family and friends, have a few beers and enjoy life.

Ted is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Kristine; son Wyatt; brothers Christopher (Patti) Smith, Andy (Kari) Smith and Patrick Smith; sisters Amy Smith, Molly Smith and Rosemary Smith; aunt Mary Claire Heffron and cousin, Ursula DeMaio; mother-in-law, Violet Alvheim; brother-in-law Brett Alvheim (Stefanie); nieces Lia Smith, Bridget Alvheim, Bergen Alvheim; nephews Drew Smith and Luke Hemphill, along with other relatives and friends.

Ted is proceeded in death by his parents, Rodney and Kathleen and father-in-law, Marvin Alvheim.

A special thank you to the staff of St. Croix Hospice, North Memorial Hospital 6th Floor ICU and Regency Hospital.  The compassion and care provided over the past 10 months meant the world to our family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Hamel VFW, Hamel, MN with a short service at 5:00 p.m
