Died peacefully on Sunday January 27 with his family by his side, due to unexpected complications of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF). Terry was loved by all who knew him and had a way of making everyone around him feel comfortable. His intelligence was fueled in large part by his curiosity, and he could talk to anyone about almost anything. He also had an irreverent sense of humor and a twinkle in his eye.
Terry loved his family, friends, crossword puzzles, red wine, Pink Floyd, scrabble, cribbage, Jeopardy, poker, pretzels, cookie dough, and most importantly, the life he lived. He loved to travel, especially to warm places, where he could sit and soak up the sun. Terry loved words and was a talented writer. He had the soul of a musician, and never let a lack of ability stop him from belting out the rhythm inside.
Despite any difficulties he experienced in life, Terry always saw the glass as half-full. He was dedicated to helping others with IPF, speaking to people around the country to help mentor, educate, and inform patients and health care providers about the disease.
Terry was the patriarch of our family and will be forever missed. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Mickey; daughter, Jen (Jonathan Potts); son, Adam; brother, Timm (Gail). He is also survived by six brothers-in-law and seven sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many friends..
Memorials are preferred to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio Street, Suite 500, Chicago, IL 60611.
