Susan M. Malachway, 98, of Maple Grove, died Wednesday, August 1, 2018.
She was born September 17, 1919 in Etschka (formerly of Austria-Hungary) to Stephan and Magdalena Kirch, and arrived in Minnesota in 1921.
Susan was a former secretary for West Publishing and West St. Paul/Mendota Heights schools. Her youth hobbies included tennis, fencing, violin, speed skating and sailing. Sue belonged to four local bridge clubs as an avid duplicate bridge player (and bridge teacher), enjoyed painting with both oils and water colors, was an accomplished seamstress, and loved reading every day!
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Stan; her beloved son, Thomas; and sister, Josephine (Harold) Younghans.
Survived by daughter, Gail Jude; sisters, Marie Davis, Betty (Jerry) Fanger, Helen Anderson, Janet (James) O'Connor; grandchildren, William Malachway, Anne Malachway, Thomas (Jessica) Bennett, Steven (Tara) Bennett, Robert (Elizabeth) Bennett, John Jude, Ryan (Itsuka) Jude, and Thaddeus "Jamie" Jude; great-grandchildren, Madison, Alexandra, Jackson, Cole, Evan, Ruby, June, Lily of Minnesota and Rui of Japan. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Sue recently had breakfast (followed by hugs) with the founder, Will Jude, whom she has known his lifetime. She would be pleased if she could help build his school in Haiti.
