Age 69 of Medina, passed away 11/30/20
Most recently Steve was employed by the Minnesota Sheriff’s Association as Use of Force Instructor. Prior positions during his 35 year career with the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office included: Use of Force Unit Director, Sergeant and SWAT team member 1980-2005, Firearms Instructor since 1990, liaison officer w/FBI and the Advanced Use of Force Instructor for16 years with the Minneapolis Community College. He was committed to keeping people safe and saving lives through personal protection training. As an entrepreneur after retiring from HCSO, Steve proudly started his own successful business, Protect and Serve Training (PST). He kept very busy with additional duties connected to the State Fair and U of M Police Departments. Those who knew Steve professionally knew him to lead by example as an officer with high integrity and honesty, always trying to improve his skills and do the right thing.
Always keeping fit and ready, "Foo" held a 5 th Degree Black Belt in Combat Jiujitsu.
He loved animals. All pets in his home were cherished members of the family. He loved watching wild life and never failed to keep the bird feeder full.
Survived by his beloved wife, Annette; and siblings Sharon and James (Kathy); as well as beloved nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents, Theodore and Lorraine Anderson.
A celebration of Steve’s life will be held at a later date, when it is safe for friends and family to gather.
