Age 67 of St. Louis Park MN. Preceded in death by parents John and Helen Schaffer Rasmussen and brother Neil Rasmussen. Survived by children Maria (Ryan), Bernard, Joseph, Grace (Steve), Anthony, John, Therese, James, Helen & David; grandchildren Alexis, Tyson, Luci, Evelyn, Charlotte & Teddy; Brother Chris and sisters Ruth and Mary and numerous cousins and friends who we will always cherish.
We thank all of Steve’s caregivers who loved and cared for him so cheerfully.
Steve served in the Army for nearly four years, and worked over 33 years in the Post Office. He subsequently worked in a group home for four years.
He was a loving, charitable person who was very involved with the Mission of Mercy, which helped people in Haiti. He and his family and friends held an annual pig roast fundraiser for about 20 years to aid Haiti, as well as bring many good people together. Steve was very close to and supportive of Brother DePaul and his work with both Mission of Mercy and the House of Charity.
Steve was a faithful Catholic all his life, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He will be dearly missed by so many.
Eternal rest grant onto him O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace, Amen.
Mass of Christian Burial for the family on Wednesday, April 8 at The Church of the Holy Family, 5900 W. Lake St., St. Louis Park. Private interment at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis
