Sheila A. Coy, age 87 of Golden Valley.
Preceded in death by husband of 60 years, Don and great grandson, Fletcher Phillips. Survived by son, Sean (Celeste) Coy; daughter, Betsy (Eric) Burgeson; sons, Bill Coy & Tim (Lisa) Coy; grandchildren, Haley (Matthew) Phillips, Ted Coy, Jack Burgeson, MD, Heidi Burgeson, Sage Coy (Max Evans), Aidan Coy, Hannah Coy and Lauren Coy; great grandchildren, Hudson, Quinn and Sutton Phillips; sister, Betsey Dudley and cousin, James Reagan, who was like a brother.
Sheila was the daughter of Edward and Anna McCormick. She graduated from UMass in 1956. She met her husband Don in a bar in Heidelberg, Germany. She loved her career in elementary education, teaching into her 80’s. Sheila was an avid baseball fan, loved Christmas and dancing. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She took great joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always showing up with enthusiasm and support. She will be greatly missed.
Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Friday, December 3 at the Church of the Ascension, 1723 Bryant Ave. N. with visitation 1 hour prior to Mass at church. Masks will be required to attend. Private family interment. The service will be livestreamed at ascensionmpls.org. In lieu of flowers, donations preferred to Ascension Church, 1723 Bryant Ave. N., Minneapolis, MN 55411.
