Sandra J. Longbottom

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Sandy, our loving mother and a friend to all whose lives she touched, on Sunday April 7 ^th , 2019 surrounded by her loving family. We will miss her so much.

Sandy was born to Myles and Winnifred Gow, on March 3rd, 1937. She eloped and married her true love, Roy Longbottom, in May of 1956 who preceded her in death in 2014. Sandy is survived by her cat Tina, daughters Lynn Ricker (Darryl) Kay Norbury (Stuart) Judy Longbottom (Steve Grodahl) grandchildren Chris Ricker (Crissy Canseco) Shala Hanson (Nolan) Leah Spainer (Casey) great-granddaughters Haley Ricker, Sofia and Olivia Hanson, and sister-in-law Jean Pearson.

She enjoyed traveling, outings to the movies, dinners, going to the store to pick up a few things and was the guru of coupons. Most of all she loved her family and instilled in her daughters’ strong values that have served them well. After graduating from the U of M with an LPN in Nursing she worked for a short period at the U of M Hospital before giving birth to her first daughter. She then became a homemaker and mother to two more girls. Adding to the list of her accomplishments are Foster Mother, Day Care Provider, Med/Surg Nurse, and Home Hospice Nurse for Abbott Northwestern Hospital.

Because Mom was so special, we are having two celebrations at which all are welcome. A small service and refreshments will be held at 6 PM on Wednesday April 24th at the Westridge Retirement Community, 11201 Fairfield Rd, Minnetonka, MN 55305.  The memorial service will be held at 2PM on Thursday April 25th at the Lakewood Memorial Chapel, 3600 Hennepin Ave S, Minneapolis MN 55408 with visitation starting at 1:30 PM. Private interment later. A reception dinner and celebration will be held from 4-8 PM at the Chester Bird American Legion 200 Lilac Dr N, Golden Valley, MN 55422.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the charity of your choice.
