Russell Stanford Nyquist, PhD, age 85 of Wayzata, MN, passed away February 1, 2021.
He was born in Cokato, MN to Russell Siegfred Nyquist and Arlene Titrud Nyquist. He is preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Jan Elizabeth Nyquist. Stan was a beloved spouse, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him. He is survived by wife, Marjorie Louise Nyquist; sons, Scott (Judy), Paul (Christina), Mark (Amy) and 10 grandchildren, Christopher Harding, Bryan Harding, Sarah Nyquist, Jacob Nyquist, Jessica Nyquist, Tessa Nyquist, Lindsay Nyquist, Matthew Nyquist, Zachary Nyquist and Annika Nyquist.
Stan led an interesting career, most recently as the Director of the MBA program at St. Thomas University in St. Paul, MN from which he retired in 2006. Prior to St. Thomas he was CEO of Photo Systems, Inc in Dexter, Michigan. Before that, he began his career as an assistant professor in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Minnesota.
Over twenty years ago he and Margie bought a lake house so the family would have a gathering spot. It was one of Stan’s favorite places to be. Going to the lake every year quickly became an annual family tradition where many strong relationships were forged.
Stan approached life with an everlasting sense of optimism. He had a love of fun and a quick sense of humor. He lived with an appreciation for every day experiences and deeply valued time with family. He will be missed.
A virtual memorial service will be held at Lakewood Cemetery Chapel and is hosted by the Hennepin Avenue Methodist Church at 2 PM Saturday, February 27th.
