Ross A. Oden

Ross Oden was born at Fairview hospital in Minneapolis on 4/1/1979 to Dale and Alice Oden. He was little brother to Patrick Oden.

Ross went to school at St. Odelia and Totino Grace. He graduated in 1997. While in school Ross became an Eagle Scout. He was involved in band and sports. Wrestling was his focus. In 1997 after a football injury tore his ACL, it was questionable if he would wrestle that year. Ross rallied, and was able to participate at state for both individual and team. Football, wrestling and throwing in track and field kept Ross busy.

For college Ross went to St. Thomas and was working on a physics major. He took a little time off and eventually started back to college at University of Minnesota. A Psychology major with a minor in Architecture is what Ross graduated with in winter of 2002. Ross pursued a law degree due to his love of mediation. He graduated from Hamline Law School in summer of 2009 with summa cum laude honors.

Ross met his wife Jane in the fall of 2000 at the University of Minnesota. They started dating fall of 2002 and were married August 21, 2010. Andrew Christopher Oden was born June 22, 2011. Leah Grace Oden was born March 4, 2013. Emily Louise Oden was born March 30, 2015. Matthew Jude Oden was born November 1, 2016.

Ross had many jobs. He worked for Ramsey county, did ABA therapy with children with autism, had various jobs in mediation. After graduation from law school, Ross started a position as a special education compliance monitor at the Department of Education for Minnesota. He had worked there for 9 years before falling ill.

Ross was hospitalized August 21, 2016 where it was discovered that he had the autoimmune disorder Wegner's Granulomatosis. He was put on immune suppressing medications. In the fall of 2017, Ross couldn't seem to get rid of a cold/sinus infection. On February 1, 2018, he drove himself to Methodist emergency room due to difficulty breathing. He was then transported to Abbott Northwestern Heart Hospital. Ross remained hospitalized until his death on November 19, 2018.

Ross loved his family first and foremost. He was a religious man; a loyal, compassionate friend. He loved his traditions like the state fair, family camp, Kelley Farm. Driving or getting lost, Ross loved taking the scenic route, traveling. Ross was patient, funny, and kind. Digging in the garden, weeding, growing tomatoes was one of his favorite pastimes. He was passionate about civic duty (election judging) and politics.

Ross was preceded in death by his mother Alice. He is survived by his wife Jane, children Andrew, Leah, Emily, and Matthew, brother Patrick, and his wife Elizabeth Capan and children Fitz and Vyla, and father, Dale.

He will be greatly missed.
