Ross H. Larson, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at age 55 from a brief battle with lymphoma on June 26th, 2023.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Larson and mother-in-law, Susan Wennes.
Ross is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Katie; beloved children, Jill (Paul) Kirchoff, Abby (Eliomar), and Emma; grandson, Mylo; father, Wayne Larson; siblings, Kim (Mike) Bennett, Kelli Peifer (Dan McCormick) and Ryan (Marit); father-in law, Steve Wennes (Barbara Dewing); sisters-in law, Anne (Mike) Randall and Mary (Joe) St. Martin; nieces and nephews, Tyler and Jaime Bennett, Kayla (Elliot) Braun and Jack Larson, Nicole (Morgan) Geib, Jack Randall, Tommy and Anna St. Martin, other relatives & dear friends.
Ross had a fierce love for his wife, three daughters, his 5-week-old grandson and his future grandson (11/2023). His quick wit and comical personality were loved and appreciated by many. He grew up in New Hope, MN and attended Armstrong High School where he played on the hockey and golf teams. He met his future wife (Katie) in 7th grade and they started dating in high school. They were married and raised three daughters in Maple Grove, MN. He was involved with his girls’ hockey, soccer, golf and many sports teams. He loved kids and loved coaching hockey. He coached in the OMGHA hockey association on the boys’ and girls’ side for 20 years.
In later years, he spent his winter weekends watching his daughters play college hockey. This was the first year in 22 years he didn’t have a kid to watch play hockey. He was looking forward to watching his grandsons play someday and teaching them how to golf.
Ross worked for Sunrise Painting and Wallcovering which he owned with his siblings. His life’s passion was golf. He spent as much time as possible playing golf with family and friends at Rush Creek Golf Course and Minneapolis Golf Club. If you asked Ross how many hole-in ones he has had, he would humbly tell you 13, if you count the one at Eagle Lake that his daughter, Jill, thought he shouldn’t count since it was a short course.
Ross will be deeply missed by many.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Friday, July 7 at the Church of St. Joseph the Worker, 7180 Hemlock Lane, Maple Grove, with visitation one hour prior to Mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to First Tee of MN, in Ross' memory.
