Rosemary Louise Orr Ekelund died in the loving care of her daughters, Andrea and Kathleen and her husband of 57 years, Charlie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rose and Bert Orr; her brothers, John and Bill Orr.
Survived by her husband Charlie; two daughters and their husbands, Andrea and Aaron Abed, Kathleen and Jason Nelson; her five grandchildren, Blake, Parker, Ryan, Jada and Gianna; brother, Larry Orr.
Her life’s passion centered around her family, whether it be at a homemade dinner around her dining room table or sitting together in the shallow waters of Horseshoe Lake. She was known for her deep Catholic faith, her passion for beautiful jewelry, her amazing baked goods and her incredible sense of humor, but to us she was known as the most incredible mother and grandmother. We were the lucky ones, my sister and I. Her schedule was always full of time with lifelong friends, her cinema sisters, Jeanette and Joan, Italian cousin gatherings, her daughters and grandchildren, time outside tending to her flowers or driving around with our father taking in Minnesota’s beautiful lake scenery. Our mother had an always honest, authentic, magnetic personality that people were drawn to. Everywhere she went she made friends. Whether at Bergstrom Jewelers, during her 8 am Catholic coffee clutch or in her 20-year book club, people who knew our mother loved her. She has been the glue in our family and the bright light in our lives and will be missed beyond measure. As her grandson, Parker said, “She is not leaving us behind, but just going on ahead.” The counters will be a little cleaner in heaven tonight.
Rest In Peace, Mom.
