Rosemarie Margaret (Theis) Gleason
October 5, 1928 to October 21, 2022
Rosemarie, formerly from Maple Grove and life-long member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Corcoran has been released from her battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Preceded in death by husband of 39 years John C. Gleason, parents Adam J. and Mary Theis, brothers Clarence (Gert), Wallace, Jerome, John, Edward, and sister Florence (Joe) Hurkman, sister-in-law Mary (Ray) Abeln, brother-in-law Vernon Hackenmueller.
Survived by sons, Thomas (Kathy), Patrick (Laurie), Dennis (Kim), Phillip (Laurie) and Jack (Deann), and daughters Maggie (Mike) Albers, Jeanne (Bill) Schmelzer, Carey Gleason (Ted Vaaler), and Mary Gleason; twenty grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Agatha Hackenmueller and Marguerite (Ron) Klaers; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Rosie was a 1946 Robbinsdale High School graduate and a proud 4-H Health Queen. Life on the farm was not always easy, but she enjoyed many years of a busy life without complaint. Her optimistic attitude and ability to find humor in almost any situation kept her and those around her laughing. After raising her nine kids, she relaxed by working at Prudential Insurance, bowling, bull riding, serving as Secretary Treasurer on the St. Patrick’s Cemetery Board, dancing, traveling the world (Ireland, Mexico, Germany, Holland, Panama Canal, Hawaii), volunteering (St. Therese gift shop), and donating to the casinos. Her winning-streak started at the age of three when she won a 1932 Pontiac. She carried her enthusiasm for gambling forward with decades of family card and poker games. Throughout her life, she gave thanks to God for the many blessings she received.
She will be remembered for her rosy cheeks, contagious giggle and always getting the last word with her rejoinder “I love you more.”
In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Disease Research Program.
