Rosalie Anna Stiyer

Rosalie Anna Stiyer, age 84 Passed peacefully on 1/20/2023. She is survived by her loving husband, Norvin and children Mark, Thomas, Suz, Michael, their spouses, and 5 grandchildren. Rosie grew up in Farming, MN on a farm with 6 sisters who she was the oldest of, and one brother. She enjoyed working on the farm, but since she was the eldest she helped her mother more in the house with the younger children. She went to school in Albany, MN and was the valedictorian. After graduating she moved to Minneapolis to go to business school. She then started working at Soo Line Railroad as an Administrative Assistant. Norv and Rosie met on the bus or actually at the bus stop. They would talk and then start to sit together on the bus and soon realized they worked at the same place Soo Line. They both even moved at one point around the same time and ended up again together on the same bus one stop apart. It was meant to be! So, the friendship and the sparks just went on from there. They soon got married and Mark, their first born, came soon afterwards. Rosie decided being a mother was her main career so she left Soo Line for Norv and the kids. Rosie kept going and soon had Tom when Mark was barely one. Then a few more years went by before their daughter Suz came about and four years later they ended with Michael. During all these years Rosie was a loving mother keeping her family fed, loved and cared for. She was always fussing over us and making sure everyone had what they needed. Even when friends would visit they’d always say they felt like she was their second mom and were always leaving stuffed from dinner. She was a master seamstress always fixing our torn threads even after we were long gone out of the house we would bring our clothing back for fixing and she was always happy to help with a smile. Rosie & Norv also enjoyed time out, they belonged to a bowling league, a card club with friends, The Rockers a choir and golfing. Rosie also spent time with her church friends and they both were in the church choir for a time. Soon after the kids were all in school full-time Rosie decided to go back to work and started a trade data processor position at A.G. Edwards. She liked working there and retired from there at 60. Rosie loved spending time with her sisters and large family over the holidays seeing and talking with everyone brought her happiness and often times Norv would have to go find her several times when they already had their coats on to get going, he’d lose her in the shuffle because she’d be talking to someone else. Rosie also loved spending time with her grandchildren. They meant the world to her. She loved to go watch them do the activities they were into. Norv and Rosie would spend a few winter months in Florida every year. They enjoyed golfing, walks on the beach and dinners out. Rosie also spent a lot of her time volunteering for different charitable organizations. She enjoyed giving her time to others and always thought of others before herself. She will be greatly missed! Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 3, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s of the Lake, 105 Forestview Ln N, Plymouth, MN 55441.
