Ronald Underwood, age 90 of Minneapolis, passed away peacefully with family members at his bedside on Sept. 9, 2019.
Ronnie was a beloved uncle to his four nieces and one nephew. He shared his love of reading and literature and gave each one of them books on their birthdays for many years. He took his nieces and nephew to parades, picnics, day trips and many movies, and he knew all the names of the movie stars. He was a history whiz and often helped them with schoolwork.
Ronnie earned a master’s degree at the University of Minnesota and worked as a librarian at St. John’s University and later for the State of Minnesota. He cared for his mother Margaret Redmann and stepfather Irvin Redmann when they had health issues. Ronnie’s beloved brother, William G. Underwood, passed away in 2013. Ronnie is survived by sister-in-law Elaine Underwood, nephew Gary (Sue) Underwood, niece Lori Underwood, niece Karen (Tom) Pettygrove, niece Lynn (Steve) Ballinger, niece Jean Lebahn and other grand nieces and nephews. Visitation from 10-11 a.m., memorial service at 11 am Nov. 9 at Gearty-Delmore Plymouth Chapel with interment at Gethsemane Cemetery in New Hope following the service.
