Age 68, of Plymouth, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2025, surrounded by family.
Ron was born in Minneapolis, MN, and married the love of his life, Barb (Lee Johnson), on July 21, 1978. Together, they made their home in Plymouth, MN, where they raised their four children and built a life filled with love, laughter, and strong family values.
Affectionately known as “The Real Deal,” Ron was the kind of person who left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He had a witty sense of humor, an empathetic heart, and a deep love for his family and friends. A gifted and incredibly creative builder, he could fix or craft just about anything. Whether it was designing something new or helping someone with a project, Ron always put others before himself.
He found joy on the slopes as an avid skier and had a lifelong passion for riding motorcycles — always chasing fresh powder, open roads, and new adventures. What brought him the most pride and happiness, though, was being a father. He loved nothing more than spending time with his kids — coaching their teams, showing up for every game, every dance recital, and every milestone…and simply being present. Some of his favorite memories were made skiing in the mountains as a family, sharing both the thrill of the slopes and the joy of just being together.
Ron is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Barb (Lee Johnson); his children Tracee (Sri) Koneru, Alex Nafstad, Jamie (Jim) Peterson, and Jacqueline Nafstad; and his cherished grandchildren Aiden and Noah Koneru, and James, Logan, Hunter, and Andrew Peterson.
He is also survived by his siblings Patricia Mattson, Gary Nafstad, Richard Nafstad, Linda Prinsen, Debra Pearson, and Gregg Nafstad, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.Preceded in death by his parents, Marlais and H. Norman Nafstad, and his parents-in-law, Ruby and Vince Johnson.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 3:00–7:00 PM, with a prayer and remembrance service at 4:00 PM, at Rush Creek Golf Course, 7801 County Road 101, Maple Grove.
