Ron McElmurry, 56, of Dayton, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, March 9, 2021.

He is survived by wife, Mary Beth; sons, Jacob and Aaron; parents, Gary and Mavis McElmurry; sister, Carol (Scott) Smothers; brother, Mark (Nancy) McElmurry; nephew, Matthew; nieces, Carlie and Annelise; sisters-in-law, Renee (Don) Peter and Michelle Ray; nieces, Chelsea (Joe), Miranda and Morgan; nephews, Spencer (Karina) and Austin; parents-in-law, Dick and Marie Urbanski; many other relatives and friends.

Ron was preceded in death by his grandparents, aunts, an uncle, cousins and friends.

Ron enjoyed golfing, bowling, camping, family vacations, fishing, bird watching/feeding, the love of grilling on his Weber and finding a fabulous supper club!

Ron graduated from the University of Wisconsin River Falls and was employed through the University of Iowa in Pathology. In 1996 he moved to the University of Minnesota in Pediatric Cancer Research.

Through Ron's research, he has authored many scientific publications advancing clinical therapies for patients. He has also shared his knowledge and skills with his associates and helped mentor many students at the U of MN.

Memorial service will be 11:00 Friday, March 19 at Eagle Brook Church, 1100 US Hwy 10, Anoka, with visitation one hour prior to the service.  Please visit our website for a Livestream of the service on Friday.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 18 from 4 to 8pm at Gearty Delmore Robbinsdale Chapel, 3888 W. Broadway.  Please utilize the Sign Up Genius to reserve a time slot for Thursday’s visitation.
