Roberta Jayne Gronemann of Plymouth, peacefully passed away on Friday, November 17, 2017. Roberta was born on December 17, 1920 in Chicago, IL to Lester and Sciota Wolfe. She graduated from Amundsen High School and North Park College. She met the love of her life, Carl William Gronemann, at a high school football game. During college, they became engaged. They were married on June 10, 1944 after Carl graduated from the US Naval Academy.
Roberta was critical to Carl's successful 30-year Navy career. Among other roles she managed 16 family duty station moves and received numerous Navy awards for her support and involvement. Her dedication and service to the Navy was ongoing until she was in her late 80s.
Post Navy life she continued to serve by helping run a retail shop which supported disabled adults in Northern Virginia. In 1991 they relocated to Minnesota. Roberta continued to serve in various ways. She received an award for volunteering over 1,000 hours at the MSP Airport Serviceman's Center.
Roberta is survived by devoted husband Carl, sons John (Sheila) and Steven, and beloved grandchildren Robert (Shannon) and Susan (Steve).
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at SummerWood of Plymouth, 16205 36th Ave N, Plymouth, MN 55446. Refreshments to follow.
