Robert M. Weinzierl passed away peacefully on July 29, 2024, at the age of 94. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary (Leuer) Weinzierl; his sister, Elaine Weinzierl; and his parents, Andrew J. Weinzierl and Frances A. (Gothmann) Weinzierl.
He is survived by his children: Robert (Risa) Weinzierl Jr., Suzanne Raddohl, Barbara (Peter) Sorensen, and Gerilynn (Patrick) Reardon; his brother, Andrew J. Weinzierl; his sister-in-law, Leone Weinzierl; his brother-in-law, MG (Ret.) Kenneth C. Leuer; and his sister-in-law, Sally Leuer. He was a loving grandfather to eleven grandchildren: Nicholas Hayes, Elise Weinzierl, Rachel Weinzierl, Samuel Raddohl, Ava Raddohl, Mariana Sorensen, Patrick M. Reardon, Christopher Reardon, Kevin Reardon, James Reardon, and Jacqueline Reardon. He was also a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Bob spent much of his career working with Honeywell and Alliant Techsystems as a quality control specialist in their Underseas Division. A proud U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War, he was an active member of the American Legion in St. Bonifacius, MN, for over 60 years. He was also a dedicated parishioner of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Wayzata for 69 years and joyfully sang in the church choir for 26 years.
An avid outdoorsman, Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at the family cabin. His passions included singing, ballroom dancing, traveling, making Christmas sausage, and gardening. Above all, he was a dedicated family man, deeply devoted to his Catholic Faith, his children and grandchildren.
Bob will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff and caregivers at The Waters in Plymouth, where Bob resided for the past eight years. The family is also grateful for the Park Nicollet Hospice Team who were so positive through Bob's care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Friday, August 2, 2024, at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 155 County Rd. 24, Wayzata, MN. Visitation will take place at the church one hour prior to the Mass. Interment will follow at Holy Name Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Holy Name School.
