ROBERT (BOB) ALAN SKOGRAND
passed away peacefully at Silver Creek Reflections, Maple Grove, surrounded by family on September 1, 2024 at the age of 83.
Bob was born July 27, 1941 in Montevideo MN to Arvid and LouElla Skogrand. He graduated from Milan High School and attended Dunwoody Industrial Institute in Minneapolis.
Bob married Carol Monson from Granite Falls July 1, 1967. They raised two children and were blessed with six grandchildren.
Bob worked at Honeywell for ten years and then moved to Colorado Springs to be a partner in Skogrand-Buesing and Pebble Haulers for six years. After moving back to Minnesota he worked at ITT Thermotech and retired from there in 2005.
After retirement he and Carol traveled and spent time in their winter home in AZ. As a proud Norwegian, his favorite vacation was visiting Norway – meeting his relatives and enjoying the beautiful countryside.
Bob was very active in Boy Scout Troop 403 as an adult leader. Over the years he traveled with the troop on their “long term” campouts to Wyoming and Colorado. He was also involved with the scout office and volunteered regularly.
Bob loved fishing and had many wonderful fishing stories. He was skilled at wood carving and carved many beautiful pieces. He always enjoyed the camaraderie of all the groups he participated in. He also loved western movies and books and read his entire series of Louis L’amour books more than once!
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Carol; children Eric (Julie) Skogrand of Plymouth MN and Kari Masayesva of Berthoud CO; grandchildren Will and Anna Skogrand, Ella Torkelson, Victor, Maxwell and Aidan Masayesva; brother Delaine of Rosemount, sister Cindy (Ken) Lee of Montevideo; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Arvid and LouElla, brother-in-law Milford Rupp, brother-in-law Clair Monson, sister-in-law Doris Monson and many of his aunts, uncles and cousins.
A special thank you to the caregivers at Silver Creek Reflections and Interim Hospice for their thoughtful care and compassion in his final months.
Funeral Mass of Remembrance will be held Saturday, September 14 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 7180 Hemlock Lane N, Maple Grove. Visitation at 10 a.m., Service at 11 with luncheon to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association or Interim Hospice.
