Robert Lance Roman

We are heartbroken to announce that Robert Lance Roman passed away peacefully in his sleep on Mar. 24, 2025. Bob was born on New Year’s Eve, 1946, in Minneapolis, MN to parents Floyd & Ardis Roman. After graduation from Richfield High School, he went on to major in Political Science & History at the University of Minnesota. He was enrolled in the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps preparing him to become an officer in the U.S. military while earning his degree. He was assigned to Fort Eustis, VA for two years as a 1st Lieutenant in the Signal Corps of the U.S. Army. He was later stationed in Germany for 15 months. After his tour of duty, he joined the City of St. Louis Park as a police officer retiring after 31 years of service. With time on his hands & eagerness to work in a different capacity, he took on the job as a supervisory paraprofessional at North Junior High School in Minnetonka.

In 1969, he met his future spouse Leilani Maria Labrador who considers him her “best friend.” They married in 1971 upon his return to the states. He was a devoted father to son Brad & a loving, generous, humorous grandfather to Martin & Maile.

Bob is predeceased by his parents, aunts, uncles, & grandparents. He is survived by Leilani, Brad, Martin, Maile; sister Peggy (Gerald Klingberg), nephew Mark Klingberg, niece Beth Klingberg, grandnephew Austin; many brothers & sisters-in-law & nieces, nephews.

It would be very remiss of me not to acknowledge many cherished friends who were his life-long buddies from childhood through college years & beyond. Robert, Bob, or Bobby as he was called was known for his irreverent humor, self-deprecating demeanor, and exuberant laughter. A voracious reader he found joy in reading endlessly. His favorites were history, politics, world events, and occasionally religion.

Memorial Service 10:30 AM Thurs., April 17th, at Gearty-Delmore Chapel, 15800 37th Ave. N. Plymouth 55446. Visitation 1 hr. prior at funeral home. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis following luncheon at funeral home.
