Robert D. Kuhn

Kuhn, Robert D., died on June 12 ^th , three days after a celebration of his 78 ^th birthday.  Preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Helen Kuhn. Survived and adored by his wife, Carol Bishop; daughter, Rochelle Gunn (Jim Mayer); sister, Marjorie Kane (Dutch) as well as his faithful companions, Dixie and Casey.  Bob was born in Barberton, OH, growing up in his beloved and beautiful Chagrin Falls.  He graduated from Kenyon College with a degree in economics.  After working in banking and property management, he pursued his goal to depend on his own abilities for his livelihood.  Bob started his own accounting business which focused on nonprofit accounting.

Bob was a singular man of deep character, reflective intellect, and pragmatic tenacity with a gentle soul, genuine warmth and a smiling sense of humor.  He collected rare diseases for a hobby, including Myofibrillar Myopathy for the past 28 years. Despite health challenges and dependence on a power wheelchair for the past 6 years, Bob had a respected ability to accept his circumstances, live in the moment, and to embrace his life and selfhood.  His interests ranged from Ayn Rand to Marvel comics, Willie Nelson to Queen, Richard Wagner to Buddy Holly, Frank Lloyd Wright to Frank Gehry. He loved classic cars, the smell of lilacs, the majesty of mountains, the songs of water and trees, and a good gin and tonic on a warm summer day.  He had a deep respect for individuality and self-determination.  We learned much from him and he has left a lasting legacy in our hearts and minds.

Visitation from 5-7:00 p.m. with prayer service at 7:00 p.m. June 18 ^th at Gearty-Delmore Funeral Chapel, 15800 37 ^th Ave N. @ Vicksburg Lane, Plymouth.  Private memorial service at a later date. Memorials preferred to The Innocence Project or Institute for Justice.
