Robert Reynold Johnson

Robert Reynold Johnson passed away on December 28, 2021 at the age of 96.

Bob was born on October 9, 1925 in Oakland, CA. He was the 5th child out of 6.

Bob originally met Eva Tulkki at church when he visited Minnesota with his parents. He returned to see her again as a young man.

Bob joined the Navy in February 1945 where he served in WWll by loading naval ships in Norfolk, VA. Bob and Eva were married in April of 1945 and first lived in Norfolk. Bob was honorably discharged in May 1946.

They moved to the Bryn Mawr neighborhood of Minneapolis where 6 of their children were born.

Bob and Eva moved to Plymouth, MN in about 1953 and then built their final home on an adjoining homesite in 1959. Like his father before him, Bob was a carpenter all his life.

They had 15 children: 11 boys and 4 girls.

Stephen, Robert, Dagny Kangas (Jerry), Richard, Thomas, Loren (Bonnie), Gordon (Linda), Daryl, Barbara Eastman (Eric), JulieAnn Rahkola (John), Phillip, Stuart, Ronald, Timothy (Mari) and Heidi Rahkola (Kurt).

When Bob passed away, he had 152 descendants: 15 children, 48 grandchildren, 87 great grandchildren, and 2 great great granddaughters, with 4 more babies on the way.

Preceded in death by:
Wife of 71 years: Eva Florence (Tulkki) Johnson.
Parents: Felix and Sophia (Rovanpera) Johnson.
Siblings: Elis “Walter” (Ida), Marion Wittenberg (John), Evelyn Hendrickson (Arvid), James (Marion), and Judy Haglund (Roy).
Children: Robert, Thomas, Phillip, Dagny, Ronald, Richard, Stephen, and Daryl (who passed just 9 days before Bob).
Grandchildren: Thomas Rahkola, Katie Rahkola, John David Rahkola, and Robert Johnson.
Great grandchild: Larissa Tormanen.

Funeral Service will be at 11 AM on Saturday April 30th at the Laestadian Lutheran Church in Plymouth. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Lunch and fellowship will immediately follow the service.

Interment will be at Cokato Finnish Cemetery at 3:00.
