Robert Fern

Robert (Bobbie) Lee Fern Sr. was born on September 15, 1933, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Delvina (Veit) and Arvid Fern.

A passionate sportsman, Robert enjoyed football, boxing, and hunting. He excelled as a football player at Mound High School, where he played both halfback and linebacker, earning All-Lake Conference Team honors for two consecutive years.

After graduating, Robert attended barber school and went on to establish several beauty salons and Fern's Beauty School in Robbinsdale, which he successfully owned and operated for many years. In addition to his work in cosmetology, he was active in local real estate and contributed significantly to downtown Robbinsdale through various ventures.

Robert made his home in Brooklyn Center, where he was deeply involved in the community. One of his many contributions was sponsoring a large community garden on his property, a reflection of his generous and giving spirit.

Known for his lively personality and kind heart, he welcomed many into his home-especially those facing difficult times-offering them comfort and support. At the age of 89, he entered the Catholic faith.

He is survived by his children: Robert Fern, Jr. (Julie), Kevin Fern, Brad Fern (Kelly), Dana Arrigo, and grandchildren: Calvin Castonguay, Thea Birnbaum (Adam), Tyler Fern (Madeleinne), Tiffany Farris (Daniel), Trevor Fern, Cici Fern, Max Fern, and Levi Arrigo. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Fern; his parents, Arvid and Della Fern; his brother, Ronald Fern; and sister-in-law, Beverly Fern.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Name of Jesus in Wayzata, MN, on Thursday, April 24th, 11am, followed by burial at Holy Name Cemetery. Visitation one hour prior at church.
