Bob also successfully applied his talents to the family business, Malat Produce, started by his immigrant grandfather, Philip Malat of Sicily.

In his leisure time, Bob enjoyed cheering on his favorite sports teams, boating, and fishing. He found his dream boat house, that included a cabin, on Upper Gull Lake, Minnesota. As he approached retirement, he joined the snowbird status by purchasing his condo in Fort Myers, Florida.

Bob spent his final days listening to nature and enjoying the glistening summer sun from his cabin on Upper Gull Lake, Minnesota.
