Richard Laurence Turner was born March 23, 1947, to Larry and Erna Turner. He accepted Jesus as his savior at the age of nine. He was baptized by Pastor Lawson and was a faithful follower his whole life.
In high school Rick played the trumpet in the marching band. He was active in the Boy Scouts, church activities, and raising chickens in the backyard. To earn extra money he worked at Busch Brothers greenhouse in Golden Valley, MN.
He graduated from Cooper High School in 1965 and from the University of Minnesota in Mortuary Science in 1969. During college he worked for the Medical Examiner.
In 1970 Rick’s dad died at 49 of heart issues. Rick promised his dad he would take care of his mother and he did till she died at the age of 100. In 1971 Rick married Susan Krueger. They were blessed with two daughters: Lori born in 1974 and Cindy born in 1976.
In 1991 Rick had a severe heart attack which left his heart weak. He spent 30 years in funeral service and ended up leaving on a disability due to his heart.
He enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. His “happy place” was the cabin on Grace Lake which he helped build with his dad and brothers Jim and Dean.
In 2017 Rick developed Parkinson’s disease. He died on July 6, 2022 due to congestive heart failure and Parkinson’s disease at St Therese of Odilia in Shoreview, MN.

His daughters Lori (Matt) Litynski – Golden Valley, MN and Cindy (Ben) Menth – Shorewood, MN,
His grandchildren Grant Litynski – Duluth, MN, Kathryn Litynski - Golden Valley, MN, Jonathan Menth – Shorewood, MN, and Nicholas Menth – Shorewood, MN,
And his siblings Carol (Dennis) Chatterton – Punta Gorda, FL, Jim (Jan) Turner – Cypress, TX, Dean (Lori Jo) Turner – Akeley, MN, and Mary (Ron Stoltz) Turner – Edina, MN.
He is preceded in death by
His parents Larry and Erna Turner,
Father-in-law and mother-in-law Arnold and Ruby Krueger,
Brother-in-law and sister-in-law Larry and Kathy Graf,
And many aunts and uncles.
Visitation July 12, 5 - 8 pm at Gearty-Delmore Plymouth 15800 37th Ave N, Plymouth, MN 55446
Service July 13, 11 am at New Hope Church 4225 Gettysburg Ave N, New Hope, MN 55428. Visitation one hour before.
Memorials preferred to New Hope Church or Open Arms of Minnesota.
