Richard W. (Dick) Palovaara

Palovaara, Richard W. (Dick), age 73, of Plymouth, Minnesota, passed away on January 6, 2021, with his loving wife of 28 years, Barbara, and stepson, Todd, by his side.  Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Walfred and Marion Palovaara.  He is survived by his sisters, Mary Jean Olson (Rich), Florence Ray (Justin), Patricia Palovaara, Lori Kallio (Curtis), a niece and several nephews.  Richard was born and raised in Mass City, Michigan.  He graduated from Mass High School in 1965.  After graduating from high school, he attended a technical school in Marquette, Michigan, for Welding.  From 1966-1968, Richard served in the Army as a Sergeant and spent a year in Vietnam.  He received several medals, including the Purple Heart.  After the military, Richard earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Education in 1972 from Bemidji State University.  He was a teacher in Kenosha, Wisconsin, worked at Pfizer, and held several other jobs.   Richard had a great smile and a caring, sharing heart for his family members.  A private family viewing will be held at Gearty-Delmore Funeral Chapel with funeral and burial following at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
