Richard "Dick" A. Drew, age 87, of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2024. Dick was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose presence brought warmth and joy to all who knew him.

Dick is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Kathryn "Kathy"; daughters Lee Ann (David) Stuhr and Cindy (Rich) Dockendorf; son Jeff; four grandchildren, Quinn Drew, Matt (Meghan) Dockendorf, Jacob (Natalie Klein) Dockendorf, Nicole Dockendorf; and one great-grandchild, Sofia Dockendorf. He was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Ella Mae Drew.

Dick worked for Minnegasco (now CenterPoint Energy) for 43 years, retiring in 2003. He returned as a consultant for another 14 years, ultimately retiring in 2017. A lifelong mentor, he served as an advisor for Junior Achievement and, alongside Kathy, guided engaged couples in the Pre-Cana marriage preparation program at St. Alphonsus Church.

A passionate sports enthusiast, Dick was a season ticket holder for Gophers basketball for over 40 years, an avid golfer, and a loyal member of the Totino-Grace High School football “chain gang” for more than 30 years. He was also a slow-pitch softball pitcher and a golfer who played tournaments across Minnesota. Dick’s love of sports extended to his grandchildren, whose activities he followed with boundless pride.

Dick enjoyed his monthly Friday night poker parties, and he was known for his quick wit, storytelling, and remarkable memory. His life was filled with devotion to family, love for community, and a zest for life that touched everyone around him.

A visitation will be held at Gearty-Delmore (Robbinsdale) on November 18, 2024, from 5 to 8 p.m., with memory sharing at 7 p.m. A funeral mass will take place at St. Alphonsus (Brooklyn Center) on November 19, 2024, at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to Mass. Private interment at Acacia Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Alphonsus, Totino-Grace or a charity of the donor's choice in Dick’s memory.
