Richard D. Johnson of Plymouth, MN, went home to be with his Lord and Savior October 2 , 2017. Richard was born July 1, 1936 in LaMoure, ND, to Herbert and Elmie (Mart) Johnson. He was raised on the family farm in Badger Township near LaMoure.
Richard graduated from LaMoure High School in 1954 and North Dakota State University in 1958 with a degree in education and agriculture. He served a tour of duty in the U.S. Army, taught high school, worked in banking, and spent the majority of his career in sales and consulting.
Richard served seven years at the Minnesota State Fair pro-life booth and was on the Board of Fishing for Life. For several recent years he posted often on his blog, The Patriot’s Trumpet as well as writing a music website, American Primer.
Richard greatly enjoyed his books and learning, as well as laughter-filled visits with family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his son, Greg Johnson, and brother-in-law, Jim Bock. Survivors include his children, Jan (Greg) Loftus, Suzanne (Del) Lindgren, Julie (DaCheng) Johnson, Julie Johnson, and Erica Johnson; daughter-in-law Mary Johnson. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren: T.J., Mike, Heather, Chris; Alexandria, Jake; Stephanie, Christine, Anna, Joe; Kaylen; Victoria, Alexander, & Serafina; ten great-grandchildren, and his sister, Lois Bock, nieces, Lisa & Laurie and great-nephew, Jake.
Rev. Michael A. Pilla will officiate the 1:00 p.m. funeral service Saturday, October 14th. Interment will follow Sunday, October 15th at 1:00 p.m., Rosehill Cemetery, LaMoure, ND. Memorials preferred to FishingForLife.org.
