Raymond Louis Horbal, age 79, passed away April 1, 2022. Born in Anoka, MN; raised in Robbinsdale, MN; current resident of Rogers, MN.
Preceded in death by parents, Gus and Sylvia Horbal; brother, Robert/Bobby; sister, Joanne; and daughter, Nancy.
Survived by wife, Linda; son, Bradley (Rebecca); grandchildren, Brennen and Katelyn; sisters, Karen (Don) Langford, Joyce Schnell, Rebecca (Rick) Burton; brother, Russ (Sandy) Horbal; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ray graduated from Robbinsdale High School and joined the army shortly thereafter. He spent his time in the army as a member of the honor guard on the mountain rescue team in Colorado.
One of Ray’s first jobs was delivering sausage for Christian Brother’s Sausage before he found a career in the printing industry. He worked many years at Trade Binding, TK Gray, PrimeSource and at Preferred Ink before his well-deserved retirement. In ‘retirement’ Ray still kept plenty busy working with the Minneapolis Auto Auction, Malmborgs Nursery, and Nothing Bundt Cakes.
Ray was a dedicated husband to his wife, Linda, for 52 years. Ray was especially proud of his son, Brad, and his two grandchildren Brennen and Katelyn. He was a patient and loving husband, father and grandfather.
You could find Ray spending his free time on the golf course or out fishing and taking a swallow of “Bubbyberry”. He was mechanically inclined and could often be found working in his garage or pole barn (regardless of temperature) on one of his many tractors. He loved to tinker with anything that had an engine and passed that love and tinkering ability on to his son, Brad. He spent many hours puttering around outside enjoying nature and felling many a tree with his chainsaws. He enjoyed watching his favorite Minnesota sports teams and was a vocal armchair quarterback.
Ray was a friend to many and spent many hours with family and friends at the Legion and VFW, telling stories and enjoying life to its fullest. Ray was a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews. He loved to spend time at family gatherings, often with a dry E&J Brandy Manhattan in his hand.
