Raymond James Bestler

Our loving Dad, Raymond James Bestler, born on October 10, 1936 (Owatonna, MN), passed away peacefully on April 22, 2023, with us, Ted, and Laura at his side (St. Louis Park, MN). After graduating from Owatonna High School, Dad joined the Navy, Radarman 3rd Class, U.S.S. Massy (DD-778) during the Cold War (1956-59) and was in the reserves until 1963. After that time, he was an accountant and an entrepreneur. He is best known for being our Dad. He took us fishing at French Lake, to Gopher games, movies, activities, and vacations. He loved, cared for, and was always proud of us. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Aggie (Zak) Bestler, grandparents, many uncles, aunts, and friends. He is survived by his brother Richard (Pam), former wife, our mom, Patty (More) Setter, daughter Laura (Sam Duncan), son Ted (Michelle), granddaughter Raven (Brendon), great-granddaughter Persephone, nieces Suzanne, and Nikke, and the neighbors/staff at Menorah Plaza. A private service will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, MN, with arrangements from Gearty-Delmore. In lieu of flowers, we request donations be made to Dad’s chosen charity, the Disabled American Veterans (https://help.dav.org/). We love you and miss you, Pop.
