Ralph Howard Larson

Larson, Ralph Howard, age 97 of Golden Valley passed away peacefully 5/25/19 surrounded by family.  Preceded in death by parents, Anton and Effie Larson; brother, Irving; sister, Blanche Marshall; and first wife and mother of his children, Florence Larson.  Survived by children, Chris (David Cox), Guy (Jill Tanis), Ross (Lea Ann), Tony (Kathy), Carol (Joel Stepanek), Tom (Jean Peters); former wife, Joan Mathews-Larson and family; 14 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Ralph was born 10/5/1921 and spent most of his childhood years living in So. Mpls. where he made lifelong friends.  He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1939.

After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Ralph enlisted in the Navy serving as a Fire Controlman 3 rd Class in the North Atlantic and South Pacific Island Hopping Campaign aboard the USS Alabama.

After the war, he graduated from Dunwoody.  He met and married Florence and they moved to Sacramento, CA where he was employed by the State of California.  After moving back to Mpls. and working for the City of St. Louis Park, he was hired by Lametti & Sons Construction Co. where he retired as President in 1982.  He then started his own company, Marine Constructors, Inc. which he later sold and continued to work in various business ventures into his late 80’s.

Ralph was passionate about the game of golf and was a member of the Forest Hills Country Club as well as an honorary lifetime member of the Sundance Golf Club.  An avid fan of our local pro teams, he especially loved the Twins and had the opportunity to attend a game at Target Field.

He loved his pet Shih Tzu’s, gardening, cooking, music, reading, travel and was a talented handyman.  Most of all, he loved everyone and was loved by all.

In October 2014, dad took the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. with other veterans to see the WWII Memorial for the first time and, while there, had the honor of meeting and having his picture taken with Senator Amy Klobuchar.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to the staff, past and present, at Sunrise of Golden Valley for your loving care and support of dad the past 6 years.  Thank you also to Consultative Health and Brighton Hospice for your care.

We wish to carry on our traditional weekly Happy Hour with dad one last time.  We invite everyone to attend our Celebration of Life on Tuesday, June 4 th , 5-8 PM with a brief memorial service 7 PM at Gearty-Delmore Robbinsdale Chapel, 3888 W. Broadway, 763-537-4511 ( www.gearty-delmore.com ).
