Paul James (Jim) Sicora, born April 16, 1934, died of natural causes on May 2, 2020 at age 86 on his 61st wedding anniversary.
Survived by loving wife of 61 years, Lois; children, Greg (Mary), and Judy; grandsons, Anthony (Caitlin) and Tim; in-laws; many nieces and nephews; and long-time golf buddies.
Born on the Northside where he made many lifelong friendships and he treated his friends very well. Lived in Golden Valley for 56 years; on Park Board; and big influence in getting Brookview Golf Course to be a public course.
Attended St. Anne's Catholic School; graduated from North High ('52) and member of The Minneapolis City Championship basketball team. Named two-time All-City basketball player. Graduated from University of Minnesota.
Served his country honorably in the US Army at Scofield Barracks in Hawaii. Returned to Hawaii later in life for 25 consecutive years with his wife, Lois. Also blessed to travel nationally and internationally seeing many beautiful cities.
Retired from 1st National Bank and the State of Minnesota.
Very smart man' loved crossword puzzles. Jim was a simple man with incredibly strong values. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed.
He loved his Catholic faith and practiced his fiath all of his life with being an Altar boy or Acolyte until age 78. A-Team lector with daughter Judy at Our Lady of Lourdes. He knew Latin fluidly thanks to the nuns at St. Anne's.
Top senior golfer; 2 holes-in-one. Longtime Minnesota pro-sports fan; attended the Masters golf tournament with Lois; and held U of MN Gopher season football tickets for 30 years.
Preceded in death by parents, John and Anna Sicora; and siblings, Jerry, Betty Welton, Freddy, and Mary Jane.
Private Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family Catholic Church on Thursday, 5/14/20 at 10:30 AM. Private interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Public Mass and party at a later date when we can be free.
Donations preferred to Holy Family Catholic Church in St. Louis Park; Holy Family Academy in St. Louis Park; and the Lundstrum Performing Arts.
